Objectives

RomaniCAP is a cross-border project between Italy and France that aims to highlight the Romanesque cultural heritage found throughout the five regions of the cooperation area—Tuscany, Liguria, Sardinia, Corsica, and the Région Sud (PACA)—by creating routes connecting accessible Romanesque sites and developing joint initiatives for their preservation, promotion, and enhancement. Launched as a continuation of the previous Itinera Romanica+ project, it aims to enhance the effectiveness of public policies that preserve, protect, and promote the Romanesque heritage of the cooperation area, contributing to tourism development and promotion, including on a European scale. To achieve this, RomaniCAP takes an integrated approach across three interconnected areas: accessibility, tourism offerings and promotion, and governance.

Activities and roles performed

Integration and development of the “Itinera Romanica” multichannel platform to promote Romanesque itineraries and sites in the cross-border area;
Coordination and engagement of local public and private stakeholders in the Monte Pisano area;
Improvement of physical and virtual accessibility to sites and itineraries;
Organization of Romanesque workshops and events.
