Project objectives:
The Government of the United Republic of Tanzania through the Tanzania Electric Supply Company Limited (TANESCO) and the National Irrigation Commission of Tanzania (NIRC) has been funded by the the African Water Facility (AWF) for specific intervention in the field of water irrigation. The project aimed at developing a hydropower scheme on the Ruhuhu River in the south-west of the country. The Kikonge Hydropower project refers to the design of a multipurpose dam including the development of an irrigated area of about 4,000 ha.
