Project objectives:
Conducting a pedological study of the soils of vineyard areas falling within the municipality of San Vicente de la Sonsierra, a Spanish municipality located in the autonomous community of La Rioja, north of the Ebro River.
The main purpose is to identify the detailed soil types of vineyards in the area, describe them and analyze them in order to make assessments of their relationships with quality wine production.
Through photo-interpretation activities and ground checks, the distribution of major soil types is reported in a detailed soil unit map.
Service provided:
- Collection of bibliographic data and preliminary photointerpretation
- Survey of soils by description and sampling of soil profiles and manual drilling
- Analysis of hydrological properties of soils
- Interpretation of chemical and physical analysis of soil samples taken and definition of soil type units
- Final photointerpretation and creation of the detailed soil unit map
- Elaboration of soil catalog with descriptions of soil types
- Drafting the final report
